In keeping with the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts' ("Blue Cross") mission "to show up for everyone like they're the only one," Kate directs the Credentials & Peer Review Team and leads the activities of the Credentials & Peer Review Committee and its Subcommittees.
Kate joined Blue Cross in 2005 and was responsible for managing NCQA and URAC accreditation programs as well as the submission of all Massachusetts and Rhode Island regulatory filings. In 2009, her role expanded to also manage the Quality Improvement Program and its committees. She was promoted to the position of Director of Corporate Peer Review in 2012 and was chosen to represent Blue Cross in the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce "Boston's Future Leadership Program." Kate was pleased to transition the credentialing function to her Team in 2024.
Prior to Kate's arrival at Blue Cross, she held many positions in the Health Care Industry, including providing administrative coverage for the Medical Staff Office as needed. In 1992, Kate began her journey as a full-time, permanent Medical Staff Professional (MSP) in both the health care delivery system and managed care organizations. She was nationally recognized as Certified Professional Medical Staff Management (CPMSM) and Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) in 1992 and 1996, respectively. Kate received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Care Administration from Emmanual College in 1997 and was awarded a Certificate in Paralegal Studies from Northeastern University in 1999.
