James has been involved in medical staff services since 2007 where he learned the fundamentals of our profession at the University of New Mexico's Office of Clinical Affairs. After completing his Master of Business Administration degree, James went on to the University of California San Francisco for 7 years where he served as Director for Credentialing & Privileging and where he managed to double the size of his team. James is now network director for medical staff services with the City & County of San Francisco's Department of Public Health.
On a national scale, James has actively served NAMSS in a variety of volunteer roles including:
• the Leadership Selection Committee.
• the Speaker Development Workgroup.
• the Succession Planning Taskforce; and
• currently serving his second year as the Chair for the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Taskforce.
James has a deep passion for improving the state of credentialing by developing efficient best practices, mentoring & enhancing staff engagement, and upholding organizational compliance with accreditation & regulatory standards.
