Brijen J. Shah, MD, AGAF
Brijen J. Shah, MD is a Professor of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Vice President for Medical Affairs, Mount Sinai Health System. He is a board-certified internist, gastroenterologist and geriatrician who has focused his career at the intersection of adult learning, quality improvement and patient safety. Brijen’s leadership roles have included serving as the Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of Medical Affairs for Mount Sinai Queens, the director of GME for faculty development, quality and patient safety. Brijen is a graduate of the Warren Alpert School of Medicine and Beth-Israel Deaconess Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency. Brijen’s current work focused on developing a culture of safety and professionalism, creating systems to enhance provider performance and working with leadership to better integrate advance practice providers into the health care system. His current work focuses on chairing the system credential committee and system bylaws committee. Brijen works on efforts to address provider performance and develop systems to improve overall pateint safety. Brijen serves as a QI coach in the VA Geriatric Scholars program to teach QI to rural health care providers and helps to lead the Clinical Quality Fellowship Program in New York City, from which he graduated.
