Erin Muellenberg, JD, CPMSM, CPCS, is a nationally known author and speaker who combines her legal training with her practical experience as a Medical Staff Professional to benefit her clients. Having been a Director of Medical Staff Services in a large community-based hospital she is intimately familiar with the daily operations of the Medical Staff Organization and its governance process. Her practice covers advising hospitals, health systems, critical access hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and medical groups on the regulatory, compliance and practical requirements for interfacing the medical staff and allied health professional staff with hospital operations.
Erin has written and lectured on a variety of health law topics, including credentialing, peer review, compliance, provider health and well-being, risk management, and the medical staff fair hearing process. She is an active member of the California and National Association of Medical Staff Services, the California Society of Healthcare Attorneys, and the American Health Lawyers Association. She is the past chair of the Education Committee for NAMSS and the current chair of Education for the California Association of Medical Staff Services. Erin has been awarded the designation by U.S. News and World Report as Best Lawyers in America for 2021, 2022, 2023 and again for 2024 but her most favorite award came from the doctors at one of her hospitals who labeled her as “A Lawyer with a Heart.”.
